 Please read carefully and follow these Grant Application steps:

  1. Please check that your proposed project meets these basic requirements before pursuing a grant from The George E. Archer Foundation.
  • Your program will provide gardening education for children grades K-12 OR your program will provide educator training for youth gardening.
  • Your organization (and the children you serve) is located in one of the following eight Indiana counties: Bartholomew, Brown, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan or Owen.
  • You will adhere to organic and sustainable gardening methods.
  • Your program/project will serve a minimum of five children (or educators.)
  • You will monitor program results and complete a program evaluation as required by the Foundation.
  1. Identify the specific grant that you wish to apply for.
  2. If you are applying for a Basic Grant, download this Grant Application to your computer. If you are applying for a Discretionary Grant, submit a Letter of Inquiry.
  3. Please make note of the Grant Application deadline to insure that your application will be considered.
  4. Complete ALL sections of the Grant Application. You can type the information directly into the form and supply any additional required information as an attachment.
  5. Be sure to save a copy of your Application on your computer.
  6. Email your completed Application OR Letter of Inquiry to
  7. In the Subject Line of the email, please put the name of the grant you are applying for. This helps us to quickly identify and prioritize your Application.
  8. Note the appropriate Award date.
  9. Check your email for a response from us.

Please note: You may apply for consecutive grants, but each cycle requires a new grant application. Priority will be given to programs serving lower income youth.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: If you are applying for a Discretionary Grant, you MUST submit a Letter of Inquiry first and await a response from the Foundation. If approved, you will then be asked to complete a Grant Application. All Letters of Inquiry will receive a response within 30 days of receipt (unless we ask for additional information). These grants are considered on a rolling basis and do not exceed $5000. You can find more information about a Letter of Inquiry here.
